COURTNEY
Courtney Liu is a Director-Choreographer and Assistant Professor at Elon Music Theatre. Select credits include Forestburgh Playhouse, Timber Lake Playhouse, Playmakers Summer Youth Conservatory, and the American Dance Festival.
Courtney performed as a part of the ballet ensemble and as a vacation swing with the Phantom of the Opera (Broadway Cast) for eight years. She has served as Assistant Dance Captain at the Phantom of the Opera and as Assistant Director for Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Other credits include Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Queen of the Night, AEA & Disney Developmental labs, the Broadway Dance Lab, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Busch Gardens Theme Parks, and the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company.
Courtney began her career as a Research Project Manger in the Psychology Department at Bellevue. Inspired by her early career experiences, she frequently collaborates with colleagues in STEM fields (e.g. robotics, psychology, neuroscience) to conduct and publish research that blends the arts and sciences.
Courtney’s academic research for the past five years has focused on flow states.
She holds an MFA and BA from Duke University.
